Allura Red is a red synthetic food coloring. It is also known as Food Red 17 and has the chemical name of “Allura Red AC.” It is used to color a wide variety of foods, including candies, soft drinks, baked goods, and condiments. The color is approved for use in the US, EU and many other countries, it has an E number (E129) to identify it as a certified color additive.
